APPLICABLE TO: NEW CO-OPERS ONLY

Each new co-oper must arrange to get fingerprinted as part of the background check process. Co-opers may only get fingerprinted beginning in August 2024.

Instructions:

This is the full list of places you can go to get fingerprinted. The current cost to get fingerprinted at a private provider is between $55 to $65. We specifically recommend:

  1. The University of Maryland Police Department in College Park (Top recommendation)

    • No appointment needed - Their hours are constantly changing, so please check the hours posted on their website before you go in

  2. Maryland Livescan Fingerprinting in Glen Burnie

    • Appointments and pre-registration encouraged

  3. American Identity Solutions in Silver Spring

    • Appointments encouraged

You MUST print and bring this Livescan Pre-Registration Application form with you to get fingerprinted. Fill out the "applicant information" section prior to your appointment. You can leave the "reason for request" section blank. The type of background check you need to get is "State and FBI/Federal".

If you are prompted to fill out an electronic registration form, please enter the following information in the relevant fields:

  1. Reason for request: Child Care

  2. Child care/agency authorization number: 1900004223 and 1100000042

  3. ORI number: MD920523Z

  4. Position applied: Classroom Aide

After you’ve been fingerprinted, please sign and submit the “CPNS CHRI Policy and Privacy Rights Acknowledgement” form on the Jovial platform. This document outlines how CPNS stores, disseminates and destroys your criminal history record. The FBI Privacy Act Statement and the Noncriminal Justice Applicant Privacy Rights is also attached.

  • Please upload the "CPNS CHRI Policy and Privacy Rights Acknowledgement" form on Jovial. To submit:

    1. Log into your Jovial Family Portal

    2. Click on “Forms”

    3. Click on “2024-25 New Co-Oper Background Check”

    4. Upload the document as a scanned PDF or image file under “Document Upload” (ensure it is clear enough to print), OR mail it to CPNS

  • No - CPNS will receive your background check results directly from the provider. You can keep the fingerprinting receipt for your personal records.

  • No news is good news! Unless you hear from us, you can assume that you passed your background check and are qualified to co-op in the classroom.
